Lily Collins to play JRR Tolkien's wife in new biopic

 
Cape Town – Lily Collins has been cast to play J.R.R. Tolkien's wife in new biopic about the author.

The Rules Don’t Apply actress will play Edith Bratt, Tolkien's great love and also the inspiration behind the elven princess characters in the Lord of the Rings, reports Variety.

Collins is set to co-star alongside Nicholas Hoult who is in talks to play Tolkien. 

The film will focus on the South African born author's love story and early life before World War I.

Tolkien served in the British Armed Forces for four years and thereafter wrote The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit

Dome Karukoski will direct the film while David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford will write the script.
