Local film festival kicks off in Camps Bay

Cape Town – The eighth annual Silwerskerm Festival is in full swing at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay. 

The festival runs from Wednesday, 22 until Saturday, 25 August.

The who's who of the local film industry will descend on the Mother City for the four day festival which showcases a stellar line-up of feature and short films. 

The opening film of the festival is Ellen - The Ellen Pakkies Story which is based on the heart-wrenching true story of Ellen Pakkies, who killed her tik addict son. 

The festival will end with a glamourous gala event where the festival winners will be announced.

WHAT’S TO SEE:

The six full-length films that will compete are: Ander Mens, The Seagull (Die Seemeeu)The Harvesters (Die Stropers), Kanarie, Ellen – The Ellen Pakkies Story, and Dominee Tienie

10 short films will also compete at this year’s event. The films feature some of SA’s top acting talents including Antoinette Louw, Brumilda van Rensburg, and Deon Lotz – to name but a few.
