South African original film Losing Lerato scooped up six awards at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema in California in the US – and we couldn’t be prouder!

The 2019 movie is an action thriller about a father who puts himself in harm’s way to fight for his right to see his child.

The film stars Kagiso Modupe and his daughter Tshimollo Modupe (9). The father-and-daughter duo put on a stellar performance, which earned them the best actor feature and best child performance gongs.

The cast travelled 33 hours to attend the award ceremony – and it was worth it.

The film also scooped up the award for festival favourite and the golden era humanitarian narrative award. Samela Tyelbooi won best actress feature and the best original score award went to Brian Temba.
