Cape Town - Bourne series star Matt Damon has said that he can’t compete with Tom Cruise’s drive to pull off dangerous stunts.

During an interview with Conan O’Brien, the Suburbicon actor talked about a conversation he once had with Tom (57) in which he dubbed him the best for his outrageous stunts, E News reported.

Matt (49) recalled he once had dinner with the Mission: Impossible – Fallout star and asked him about the time he scaled the world’s tallest building, the Burji Khalifa in Dubai, for a stunt in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011).

Tom ran the idea past his safety guy first, who told him that what he was requesting was near impossible and too dangerous, DailyMail reported.

But Tom wouldn’t take no for an answer, so he got another safety guy, Matt revealed.

“I looked at him and I’m like, ‘Well, I’m tapping out because you win. You’re the best,’ ” he says.

“At that point, when the safety guy – whose only job is to keep you safe – says, ‘That’s too dangerous,’ my reaction is, ‘Too bad we can’t do that sequence I came up with. It would have been really cool.’ His reaction is, ‘No, we’re getting another safety guy.’ ”
