Cape Town – Mike Myers has spoken out following the death of his Austin Powers co-star Verne Troyer.
Verne died on Saturday, his family announced in a statement on social media. He was 49.
“It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today,” the statement said.
Ryan Parker, senior staff writer for The Hollywood Reporter, tweeted Mike’s statement.
“Verne was the consummate professional and a beacon of positivity for those of us who had the honour of working with him. It is a sad day, bu I hope he's in a better place. He will be greatly missed.”

The late 49-year-old’s death comes after he was rushed to hospital earlier this month.
According to reports, a friend called emergency services to Verne’s house claiming the actor was “extremely upset, drunk and suicidal”.
