Nomzamo Mbatha to star in 'Coming to America 2'

Cape Town – South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha has bagged a role in Coming to America 2.

The 29-year-old actress joins Eddie Murphy who will reprise his role as the crown prince of the fictional African nation Zamunda in the sequel of the popular 1988 film.

Details about her role have not been revealed, reports The Hollywood Reporter. This will be Nomzamo's first significant role in an international production.

According to Variety, the new film will see Prince Akeem (Murphy) head back to America after he learns that he has a son he never knew about. In honour of his father's dying wish, he will groom his son as heir to the throne of Zamunda.

Aresino Hall and James Earl Jones will also reprise their roles in the film helmed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow).

New cast members include Tracy Morgan, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, KiKi Layne and Garcelle Beauvais.

Coming to America 2 has been scheduled for a December 2020 release.

On Thursday, Nomzamo shared a photo on Instagram celebrating her first week in Atlanta.

She wrote: "I've officially survived my first week in Atlanta! Eating good, working, exercising and staying hydrated in this heat! Shine, Zamo, Shine!"
