Cape Town – Olivia Munn addressed the controversy surrounding her new film The Predator during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres.

Hours before the movie was set to be screened at the Toronto Film Festival last week Fox announced that they cut scenes from the movie starring a registered sex offender, Steven Wilder Striegel. (Read more here)

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times Olivia revealed that she learned about Striegel’s conviction and shared the information with the studio.

During roundtable interviews at TIFF, Olivia said she got little support from her co-stars and felt lonely and isolated after the news broke. (Read more here)

Olivia has now opened up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about how people reacted after she spoke out about it.

"I did find out, and he was a 38-year-old man at the time, it happened about 10 years ago, he was 38 years old and went after a 14-year-old female relative. And when I found that out I did call Fox and I said, 'We have to delete the scene.' And they did thankfully."

She then reached out to her co-stars as she didn’t want them to be blindsided.

"When I called my co-stars I got chastised the next day by the people at the studio for telling them, and why am I not just keeping it quiet? It's all gonna be OK, it got deleted, what's the big deal?"

The X-Men: Apocalypse actress went on to say that she hasn’t received any support from the other cast members and that nobody reached out to her that whole day.

This is Us star Sterling K. Brown who also is in the movie tweeted his support on Tuesday morning which Olivia acknowledged later in the interview.

He wrote: “@oliviamunn I’m sorry you’re feeling so isolated, my dear. And I’m sorry you’ve been the only one to speak up publicly. I was not at #TIFF so I didn’t have an opportunity to be there with you. There are two main issues as far as I see it. First, what is and is not forgivable?...”

Boyd Holbrook, who is also a co-star, released a statement on Monday.

The Predator opens in SA cinemas on Friday, 14 September.
