Cape Town – Hilary Duff makes her big screen return in a new psychological horror film The Haunting of Sharon Tate.
Duff will play the role of murdered actress Sharon Tate who was brutally stabbed to death in 1969 by members of the Manson Family.
At the time Tate was married to director Roman Polanski and was eight and a half months pregnant.
According to Deadline the film which will be directed by Daniel Farrands will be told from Tate’s point of view and focus on the days before her murder.
The plot is inspired by an interview she had a year before she was murdered in which she revealed she had nightmares that she was being haunted and that she would be killed at the hands of a satanic cult.
Duff shared a first look picture in character on social media.
Alongside the picture she wrote: “Had the incredible opportunity of playing Sharon Tate the past two weeks in an independent movie. She was an amazing woman and it was a true honour.”
Other cast members include: Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls) and Lydia Hearst (Gossip Girl).
