Cape Town – Jessica Chastain is reportedly in talks to join the sequel of IT.
According to Entertainment Weekly The Molly’s Game actress will play the adult version of Beverly Marsh (Sophia Lillis).
Chastain will reunite with director Andy Muschietti who she worked with on the 2013 horror film Mama.
The sequel will take place 27 years later when the adult versions of the Losers Club return to the city of Derry to face off against evil.
Variety, who broke the news, further reports that Bill Skarsgård will return as Pennywise as well as Lillis who will appear in flashbacks.
Speaking to the publication about what viewers can expect from the sequel Muschietti said "we will be going back to the summer of 1989."
"I don’t want to go back just for that, I want to make those flashbacks essential in the plot where in order for the Losers to figure out the clues to defeat Pennywise, they have to retrieve their memories from the past," he told Variety.
The film is scheduled to be released in September 2019.
