Cape Town - Phew – is it getting hot in here or what!

Sharon Stone recreated her iconic pose from 1992 hit movie Basic Instinct for the cover of Portugal Vogue – and proved yet again that time has done nothing to diminish her sexiness!

Dressed in fishnet tights, heels and a plunging top, the 61-year-old oozes sophisticated sex appeal as she sits, legs splayed, People reports.

"I still know I’m sexy," the mom-of-three tells the magazine in the accompanying interview.

In a shocking revelation she reveals how sexist Hollywood was when she started out.

"The term f**kable was used to see if you were employable. The studio executives sat around a large table and discussed whether or not each of us was in fact f**kable. They thought I wasn’t.

"I gave this some hard thought as I wanted to work, so I did a strategically planned semi-naked Playboy shoot. Did I fit the part? Obviously not. Did I use my brain to figure out how to appear f**kable? You bet."

Her plan worked and she landed the role in Basic Instinct shortly afterwards – a role that was previously turned down by Michelle Pfeiffer and Demi Moore, USA Today reports.

She says she’s sick of talking about her role and her infamous flashing scene.

"I look at it as a scene in a movie I did 25 plus years ago. Other people have their own perspective."

The movie catapulted her to fame and she went on to earn an Oscar nomination for her performance in 1995’s Casino.

An advocate for the current #MeToo movement she’s endured her own fair share of sexual harassment over the years. "I worked with a director on Basic 2 [the 2006 sequel to Basic Instinct] who asked me to sit on his lap each day to receive his direction, and when I refused he wouldn’t shoot me," she tells the magazine.

"This went on for weeks. I had a two-week-old baby when it started. I can say we all hated that and I think the film reflects the quality of the atmosphere we all worked in."

But for the most part she’s "loved doing" the majority of her films.

Her next still untitled project will see her teaming up with Hollywood royalty in the form of award-winning director Martin Scorsese and Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Robert DeNiro.

In the meantime she can be seen on the big screen later this year in the romantic drama – What About Love – about a pair of young lovers who change the course of the parents’ lives forever. It co-stars Andy Garcia.
