The Bad Boys are back in action as filming begins

Cape Town – Filming for the long-awaited Bad Boys sequel has begun.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their roles as detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in the third instalment titled, Bad Boys For Lif3

On Monday, Will shared a picture of himself and Martin announcing that filming for the movie will kick off later in the week.

On Tuesday the pair were pictured on set in Atlanta, Georgia for the first time. In the pictures Will can be seen filming a running scene and sitting in a car with Martin. 

Meanwhile Martin was pictured filming scenes with a plaster on his forehead.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE MOVIE SO FAR

The film is helmed by Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. Joe Pantoliano will reprise his role as Captain Conrad Howard.

There is no word yet whether Gabrielle Union will reprise her role as Syd, Marcus’ sister. She is currently working on a Bad Boy spin-off television series for NBC.

New cast members include Vanessa Hudgens, Charles Melton, Alexander Ludwig who will play members of modern, highly specialised police unit.

Other cast members include Jacob Scipio who will play the villian, Armando Arma and Paola Nuñez will play Rita the new head of the AMMO unit and Mike’s ex-girlfriend. 

According to Deadline the movie will centre on the Miami PD and its elite AMMO team’s attempt to take down the head of a drug cartel. 

On Tuesday, DJ Khaled revealed that he is also joining the cast.

The music producer posted a picture of himself on set with the caption: “Blessed to announce that I will be joining @willsmith and @Martinlawrence in the cast of @badboys #BadBoysForLife movie! Salute @fallahbilall @adilelarbi.”
