Cape Town – Drama, suspense, action and horror – there’s something for everyone to see at the local box office this weekend.

Ryan Gosling reunites with Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle for the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong.

Also showing: Jennifer Garner returns to her action roots, John Cho searches for her missing daughter in a thriller set entirely on smartphones and computer screens and the sequel of Goosebumps.

Here are the 4 new films releasing in SA:

Our rating: 4/5

Short review: First Man may tell the incredible true-life story of Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 mission but it may not be the film you think it is going in. Not that it stops it from being a must-see.

Movie: Searching

Our rating: 4/5

Short review: Searching’s intuitive use of telling a mystery from the perspective of a computer is surprisingly compelling and a lesson on how to use this new format to enhance the story rather than using it as a gimmick.
