Los Angeles - Will Ferrell's best day on the set of Zoolander No. 2 was when he surprised Ben Stiller with a Shetland pony.
The 48-year-old comedian - who stars in the films as evil fashion genius Jacobim Mugatu opposite Stiller's titular character Derek Zoolander - recalled desperately wanting to play a prank on his co-star, and succeeding, who is also the sequel's director.
Speaking about his plan to make Ben laugh, he said: "The best day on set was when I had a Shetland pony delivered to Ben for May Day. I had thought to myself, 'You know what? One of these days I'm going to surprise Ben with a pony!' And I did!
"When it came he was so excited he was crying. I've never heard Ben's voice go into such a high pitch squeal, he was like, 'Oh my god, a pony!' And then he went, 'OK, back to work.' "
The comedy sequel once again parodies the fashion world and also modern day celebrity culture.
And Will thinks the movie's characters have now become an "iconic symbol" for the fashion and entertainment industries with stars such as Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Jourdan Dunn all clamouring for cameos in the sequel which is in stark contrast to the difficulties Ben had when trying to get guest stars for his original 2001 film.
The 48-year-old actor said: "That's what so bizarre, is that I don't think Ben could get anyone in the fashion world to be a part of the first one because they were just fearful, and now he's become an iconic symbol not only of poking fun at them but representing them and that's a rare thing when you can create a character that does that. So I don't think there's any backlash, I think they just love any sort of celebration whether it's positive or negative."
