Cape Town - A Bob Dylan biopic is in the works and it may feature Timothée Chalamet.

An upcoming movie by director James Mangold (Ford v Ferrari) will cover the early years of Bob Dylan’s career and it’s being said Timothée (24) is in talks to play the now 78-year-old.

A source familiar with the film told Rolling Stone, "It starts at 19 when [Bob] arrives in New York City. And also heavily involves the rest of the folk scene at the time."

Thus far, E! News has confirmed Timothée’s involvement and that the biopic is unofficially titled Going Electric.

The film will centre on the moment the influential singer-songwriter made the leap from folk music to rock 'n roll, and the influence of his music.

Key figures from the folk scene will all be featured characters in the movie, including Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and Woody Guthrie.

According to Deadline, the Call Me By Your Name star is already taking guitar lessons to familiarise himself with the instrument in order to give a realistic portrayal of the legendary musician.

The Blowin' in The Wind singer is said to have given his blessing to the project and is working closely with the Ford v Ferrari director and Searchlight Pictures.

The project will be produced in part by Bob's longtime manager, Jeff Rosen, reports Pitchfork.

The actor, who bears a striking resemblance to the singer, will join a long list of others who’ve previously played him, including the likes of Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale and Richard Gere from the 2007 film I’m Not There.
