The forthcoming movie features Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, Zendaya Coleman as Peter Parker's love interest, Mary-Jane Watson and Jon Favreau is to reprise his Iron Man character.

The 49-year-old actor played Happy Hogan - Iron Man's personal driver - in the first three films in the franchise, and he will resurrect his alter ego for the webslinger's first full feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Downey Jr. played Tony Stark and Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War which marked Tom Holland's debut as Spider-Man, but Favreau's character was absent from that film.

The revelation comes after several other actors have been confirmed for the movie, including Michael Keaton as villain Vulture, Logan Marshall-Green as another baddie and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May once again.

Spider-Man: Homecoming was being filmed in Atlanta and is pencilled in for a 7 July 2017 release date.
