Cape Town – Save the date because the Top Gun sequel is set to hit the big screen on 12 July, 2019.
Paramount announced the big news on Friday.
According to Entertainment Weekly the film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski who previously worked with Tom Cruise on Oblivion in 2013.
In June Cruise revealed to Access Hollywood that the sequel will be called Top Gun: Maverick.
While he stayed mum on who will return he did say the film will have the same tone as the first one.
"Stylistically it is going to be the same, we are going to have the same score ... we're going to have big fast machines. It's going to be a competition film like the first one," said Cruise.
