Cape Town - Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock star in a new film in the Saw franchise titled Spiral.
The new trailer debuted on Wednesday and introduced the world to Chris' hard-hitting detective and his rookie partner (portrayed by Max Minghella). The pair investigate horrific crime scenes that ring familiar to the city's gruesome past.
Spiral's producer team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules also worked on the Saw franchise. The new film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who also steered the second, third and fourth Saw movies, and is written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.

Actor Tobin Bell has portrayed Jigsaw in all eight films, and the movies have grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide. The decision to reboot the series was inspired by Chris' singular love of the franchise.
The comedian also acts as producer on the film, which marks a departure from his previous, lighter, work.
