Cape Town – Neill Blomkamp has released his third short film in his series of experimental projects.

We reported earlier that the director has embarked on an experimental filmmaking project called Oats Studios.

The first Rakka featured the queen of sci-fi Sigourney Weaver.

Sharlto Copley starred in Firebase which was a sci-fi spin on the Vietnam war.

His latest film, Zygote stars Dakota Fanning.

Speaking about the film to The Verge Blomkamp says he was inspired by the 80s horror The Thing.

It centres on Fanning and Jose Pablo Cantillo who are lone survivors trapped in a arctic mine. The pair have to escape a horrifying creature who is made up of body parts.
