WATCH: Taraji P. Henson gives an emotional speech at Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony

Cape Town - American actress Taraji P. Henson was recently awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in recognition of her outstanding work in the acting industry and the tear-filled moment will forever be etched in her heart.

Taking to her Instagram page the 48-year-old Acrimony actress shared a snap sitting beside her awarded star.

"Thank you Hollywood Chamber of Commerce!!! I am grateful!!!" she captioned the snap.

Local singer and TV presenter Unathi Nkayi took to her Instagram page to congratulate the actress on her achievement by sharing snaps of them together.

“Celebrating Black Excellence n Black Girls who Rock @tarajiphenson When you win we ALL win Hollywood Walk of Fame,” she captioned the post.

During her acceptance speech Taraji described how surreal the entire experience was to her,

“I keep looking at the star and thinking is it real?” she said tearfully.

“I’m a mom I have a son when I set out on this journey I said I’d never give up, because if I give up what am I teaching my son, if I give up what am I teaching those who look up to me?” she added speaking on her journey in the industry.

The Empire star who was accompanied by her family to accept her prestigious accolade, said that they were the driving force behind her success.

She also went on to add that, “Everything I do is for the positive forward movement of humanity and that’s how powerful art is.”

To which she continued, “I don’t take anything for granted…”
