WATCH: There’s a new local Christmas flick on the way

Cape Town – The full trailer for new local film Liewe Kersfeesvader dropped earlier this week.

Written and directed by Etienne Fourie (Die Windpomp, Dis Koue Kos, Skat), Liewe Kersfeesvader tells the story of a young beauty queen who is forced into adulthood when her dad takes on a new identity, that of Father Christmas.

Fourie explained to Huisgenoot that the film is about loss and shows that there’s nothing more effective than tragedy to mend a broken family.

The film is a story "about the decision to love and accept your family, not despite their shortcomings, but because of it. The story takes a look at a normal and seemingly unremarkable family who overcomes unusual challenges," says Fourie.

The film stars Mila Guy, June van Merch, Terence Bridget, Milan Murray, Dean Smith, Morne Visser, Melt Sieberhagen and Eloff Snyman.

The film releases in local cinemas on 17 November 2017.
