Speaking to Page Six  the actor said, "I've made my last Madea," he said. "It made so many people laugh, but turning 50, I don't want to be her age playing her."

The finale of the Madea film series will be ending off with funeral fun and a lot of people have questioned the actor’s decision and in response to people’s the actor told Page Six, "Look, nothing's funnier than stuff that happens at a Black funeral."

"Who'd let Madea plan a nice burial? And with a Beyoncé hat on? If you're looking for Schindler's List, this ain't it. I just want to make people laugh."

After releasing 11 plays and 12 films that have grossed up to $496m (R6.1bn) Tyler admitted to NBC 4 Washington that he's a bit nostalgic about walking away from his signature character, but believes it's the right time.

“I feel she’s had a great run and I’m full of gratitude for it.” Tyler said.

It is definitely the end of a hilarious era. The final film titled A Madea Family Funeral will open in SA cinemas on Friday, 1 March.
