Also showing: Two coming-of-age dramas, a true story about a prison break and an indie sci-fi about climate change.

Our rating: 5/5
Short review: Another fantastic film by Christiaan Olwagen, Kanarie is a beautiful local portrayal of shedding the internal oppression ingrained by the Apartheid regime.
Our rating: 4/5
Short review: The Hate U Give is the one movie everyone should see - it is a story that makes headlines every day and will give viewers a glimpse of what people who are living this go through.
Movie: Papillon
Our rating: 2/5
Short review: By falling between being a “good” film and a “fun” film, this remake of ‘70s true-life prison drama is never as good as its individual parts would suggest it should be.
Movie: The Titan
Our rating: 1/5
Short review: All the honourable intentions in the world don’t stop The Titan from being a dramatically inert, boring and ultimately insultingly stupid indie sci-fi misfire.
