Cape Town – French director Pascale Lamche won the top award at the Sundance Film Festival.
Lamche bagged Best Director: World Cinema Documentary for Winnie.
According to the official synopsis of the film it tells the untold story of Winne Mandela's contribution to the fight against Apartheid on the frontline and underground.
The film includes in depth interviews with Winnie, archival footage and interviews with comrades and family members.
During her acceptance speech the French director dedicated her award to those “who know history was not made by great men”.
