London River

What it's about:

This is the story of Ousmane, a Muslim, and Mrs. Sommers, a Christian. Ousmane lives in France, Mrs. Sommers in the Channel Islands. They both lead ordinary lives - that is, until their respective children go missing on the day of a terrorist attack in London. Although they come from very different backgrounds, Ousmane and Mrs. Sommers will come together and share the hope of finding their children alive.

What the critics thought:

"Blethyn brings tremendous empathy to the introspective, determined Elisabeth, while the tall, gaunt and dreadlocked Ousmane fleshes out his less-dimensional role with a haunting sadness that speaks volumes."
- Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times

"An insight-filled take on prejudice in post-11/7 London that packs a hefty punch."
- Anna Smith, Empire Magazine

"In the film’s latter stages, Blethyn’s heart-on-the-sleeve acting style finally combines with the marvellous Kouyaté’s watchful intelligence and frail dignity to moving effect."
- Wally Hammond, Time Out

Two strangers in search of their children in the wake of the 2005 terror attacks in London discover a connection between their families.
