Adapted from a mind-bending sci-fi thriller by Philip K. Dick, Paycheck tells the intriguing story of Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck) - a highly paid engineer who works on hush-hush computer technology for shady companies.

When Michael's memory is accidentally wiped clean, his double dealing friend Rethrick (Aaron Eckhardt) offers him enough money to retire by working on a project at Rethrick's company, Allcom.

But when Jennings emerges three years later, sans memory, he tries to collect his paycheck. At the bank, he's handed a manila envelope filled with cryptic items he doesn't recognize, and told he voluntarily forfeited his entire paycheck. He soon finds that his beautiful girlfriend, Dr. Rachel Porter (Uma Thurman), is also ensnared in the conspiracy. Jennings must somehow piece together the clues he left for himself, and find out why everyone is out to kill him.

What the critics are saying:

"North By Northwest without genius. Minority Report without pretensions. Don't think. Enjoy. Forget."
- Nev Pierce, BBCi Film

"Makes little of its fascinating premise and seems to show the once-mighty Woo running out of breath and ideas."
-Terry Lawson, Detroit Free Press

"Without ever quite becoming boring, Paycheck seems to narrow into a routine pattern, and a plot that at first had nuance and the hint of a broader meaning degenerates into chases and standard action."
- Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle

A formulaic and haphazard sci-fi thriller that takes an intriguing premise and turns it into a string of unremarkable action set pieces.
