Playing It Cool

What it's about:

This is the story of me, a young man disillusioned by love, who meets a breathtaking young woman, her, at a charity dinner by pretending to be a philanthropist. Only one problem: she’s engaged. Yet, he engages into a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her. Like a young Walter Mitty using the power of imagination and wild vignettes, he will stop at nothing to conquer her heart.

What the critics say:

Movies don't get much more meta than this: a film about a screenwriter worried about writing a rom-com script because he's never been in love...
- Rich Cline,

Playing It Cool is perfectly adequate date-night fare, but it would have benefited from stretching its legs and seeing more of the world.
- Chris Knight, National Post

Playing it Cool has appeal. But it is just not good enough to unsettle the rom-com genre and get people really talking, laughing and loving.
- Bruce Kirkland, Toronto Sun

Relying too much on fantasy sequences and obvious from the first scenes in intent and conclusion, it's puzzling why Evans misses so badly.
- Linda Barnard, Toronto Star
