What it's about:

Tammy is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and, instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbour.

It's time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is that she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl, is her only ticket out of there—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind, but, on the road, with Grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.

What we thought:

This comedy starts with Melissa's character Tammy hitting a deer with her car on her way to work which makes her late.

When Tammy arrives at the fast food joint she works at as a waiter, her boss is not happy with her and has already made up his mind that he is going to fire her. Tammy tries her best to talk her way out of being let go to not avail.

Tammy goes home in her beat up car, whose windscreen was shattered by the deer that she hit earlier in the morning.

She gets home to find that her husband is cheating on her with someone she knows, as Tammy confronts him he tells her that he wants a divorce. Her life unravels even further as she runs back home to her mom.

Tammy tells her mom that she wants to get away from everything, her mother tries to get her to  stay but Tammy has made up her mind that she has to get away from it all.

Her maternal grandmother played by Susan Sarandon, a care free alcoholic forces her way into joining Tammy in her adventure to nowhere.  Their journey includes lots of drinking, the grandma having sex with a total stranger they meet at a club, Tammy robbing a fast food joint with a fake pistol, both of them getting arrested and Tammy finding love.

This film is just like any other Melissa McCarthy film unfortunately, if you are looking for anything different you will be very disappointed. Fans of McCarthy will get exactly what they have learned to expect from the funny lady. She does not hold back in her hilarious one liners and the ever so funny physical comedy which she is very good at.

And Susan Sarandon fans get ready to see her as you have never seen her before.
In Tammy, Melissa McCarthy plays the same role she always does great execution.
