He's Armed... But She's Dangerous...

Belle Williams (Queen Latifah) is a speed demon. Flying through the streets of New York in her tricked-out taxi, she's earned a rep as the city's fastest cabbie. Then one day she's derailed by overeager cop Andy Washburn (Jimmy Fallon), whose undercover skills are matched only by his total ineptitude behind the wheel.

Washburn is hot on the heels of a gang of beautiful Brazilian bank robbers, led by Vanessa (Gisele Bundchen), their cold, calculating - and leggy - leader. Washburn convinces Belle to team up with him to pursue Vanessa and crew. Now Belle has carte blanche to drive at any speed and break any law.

Soon New York's unlikeliest partners are deep in a high-speed game of cat and mouse with the robbers. They might even have a chance of catching them - if don't end up killing each other first.

What the critics are saying:

"This is a cynical, tired example of filmmaking. Plenty of noise. Little va-va-voom."
- Nev Pierce, BBCi Film

"Despite some gratuitous, lingering shots of Bundchen with her scantily- clad cohorts and some equally heated, rubber-burning car chases through Manhattan, Taxi never really gets out of second gear."
- Robert K. Elder, Chicago Tribune

"We often hear about movie scenes and characters being left on the cutting-room floor. In the case of the would-be comedy Taxi, that's apparently where all the laughs were left."
- Jack Mathews, New York Daily News

A truly tragic remake that swaps wit for slavering idiocy and genuine plot tension for lingering shots of taut Brazilian behinds. The studio should really not be allowed to call this a comedy.
