Blood Father

What it's about:

John Link is an ex-convict who fights to protect his estranged daughter from the drug cartel that is hunting her down. John must use his connections from his past and his skills as an ex-criminal to keep him and his daughter alive.

What we thought:

Mel Gibson is back.

I didn’t expect much from Gibson’s big screen return, but found myself unsuspectingly enjoying this skop, skiet and donner flick.

If you’re into tattoos, bikes and beards then you too will thoroughly enjoy Blood Father.

Melodramatic movie title aside, this flick really made for some great viewing pleasure. It’s got that nineties action-with-a-side-of-comedy feel to it, but with a strong modern grip.

Blood Father knows what it wants to be and delivers each blow with precision. As the punches start to roll you can’t help but find yourself on the side of Gibson’s bearded anti-hero.

Drugs, drama and fantastic chase scenes – it’s got it all!

Sure there are some really OTT and random scenes, but that’s exactly what you came to see, right? If you enjoyed that hectic chase scene in the finale of the latest Bourne flick, then boy will you like what Blood Father has to offer.

The stellar cast, including Erin Moriarty, William H. Macy, Diego Luna and Gibson of course, really sunk their teeth into this gritty crime thriller.

If you’re in the mood for a lekker action flick with lots of blood splatter and FML moments then grab some popcorn and a Coke and enjoy this wild ride.
