What it's about:
Hard-partying brothers Mike and Dave place an online ad to find the perfect dates for their sister’s Hawaiian wedding. Hoping for a wild getaway, the boys instead find themselves out-hustled by the uncontrollable duo.
What we thought:
When last did you walk out of a movie whilst wiping away the tears of laughter?I can hardly remember when last I laughed so much in a flick. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is a laugh-a-minute comedy that is really enjoyable to watch.
There is so much hectic stuff going on in the news and in our daily lives that we sometimes forget to sit back and just laugh a bit.
I’m not going to lie. This movie isn’t for everyone. It is filled with below-the-belt totally outrageous humour and that’s completely okay. The one thing I liked most about the movie is the fact that it gives you exactly what it promised.
There are no Suicide Squad type of expectations – with Mike and Dave you get what was promised. A dirty comedy packed with crazy, crazy stuff.
If you walk out of the movie disgusted by the dick jokes and dildo references, well then it’s your own fault. Because that’s what the film is about and it makes it super clear from the start.
Based on a true story and then jazzed up for the big screen, the flick is a funny look at the struggles of being single and being forced into adulthood.
Zac Efron (Dave Stangle) and Adam DeVine (Mike Stangle) don’t really convince as brothers but that honestly didn’t bother me at all. They’re more like buddies or bros. Despite that they still make for some funny viewing pleasure.
However the scene stealers are without a doubt Anna Kendrick (Alice) and Aubrey Plaza (Tatiana). These girls kill it. They don’t hold back and pack an ever bigger punch than the boys.
Mike and Dave has its flaws but it doesn’t matter because you’re going to laugh your ass off.
PS: Stay for the bloopers reel. It’s the best.
