What it's about:

In a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Buster Moon is a dapper Koala who presides over a once-grand theatre that has fallen on hard times. He’s an eternal optimist—okay, maybe a bit of a scoundrel—who loves his theatre above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now, facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition!

What we thought:

What could be better than a musical animation filled with brilliant singing, an A-list cast, silly jokes and a whole lot of fun? Sing is all that and more!

And with all these exhausted singing competitions still on TV, the flick comes at the perfect time to better your opinion of them.

Sure the film lacks in originality, I mean its pretty much Idols animated and when a contestant with serious stage fright is in the competition... well, there aren’t any spoilers as to how that is going to end.

What is lacks in originality it makes up for it in execution. Every character has a story and while we all pretty much know how the movie ends, there are plenty of other questions you’ll find yourself wanting to know the answer to. And with an ending that packs an emotional punch, these ‘animals’ will be tugging at your heart strings from the get go.

The cast of this flick is by far the main attraction and also best executed. For starters Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, a Koala with the perfect balance of nice and nasty with so much ambition is - dare I say it – alright, alright, alright.

Then we have overworked mama pig Rosita (Reese Witherspoon) and a gorilla named Johnny who’s trying to break free from his criminal father’s gang (Taron Egerton) who, by the way, has the voice of an angel and will literally knock your socks off.

Add teen porcupine Ash (Scarlett Johansson) who’s mad at her cheating boyfriend, a rat named Mike (Seth MacFarlane) with a serious money obsession and Meena (Tori Kelly) the elephant with stage fright and you’ve got yourself a gold star team of singers to entertain you.

Seriously, they can act and they can sing!

And to finish it off, the help of even more celebrity voices like Leslie Jones, Jay Pharoah, Jennifer Saunders and Jennifer Hudson make it a sweet package anyone can enjoy.

When watching Sing, don’t be surprised to find a little piece of yourself in one of the starring characters. The flick is something fun and festive that everyone can enjoy over the holidays.
