Amy Winehouse - I Told You I Was Trouble (DVD)

That title says it all. Forget her recent boozy Birmingham debacle where she was booed off stage, captured live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, London she’s in superb form. Her toasted soul chops are somehow still intact and with a super-tight backing band keeping her on track she Joplin’s her way through a cocktail of some of her sassiest self-loathing soul bearers including "You Know I'm No Good," "Tears Dry On Their Own", a wonky cover of the Zuton's "Valerie", and yes, her chart topping confessional "Rehab".

Sure, the quality of the footage (shot direct to video) is pretty gritty, but it kind of embodies what Amy’s all about. Just watch the additional 45-minutes of documentary footage. This is where things get really juicy, as you witness her meteoric rise and fall from being the next-big-thing to an increasingly desperate addict over a series of brutally frank interviews and some seriously sleazy behind the scenes footage.

Here’s the thing about Amy: listening to her on CD is one thing but to truly appreciate the crazy R&B chanteuse in all her manic depressive, alcohol-soaked, skinny, white trash sexiness you just have to see her live. With her heart seemingly hell bent on joining her bad boy husband behind bars this DVD is probably your best bet.
