Beyoncé - The Beyoncé Experience - Live!

2007-12-12 16:09
There is no disputing that Beyoncé is an amazing entertainer. She knows how to seduce her audience and can dance her way into any cynic’s heart. The 25-year-old is a professional with more that 15 years of experience. Even when she falls over on stage during an extravagant dance sequence, she keeps her composure and continues with the show. Unfortunately the video of her tumbling down the stairs during her show in Orlando, Florida is not included here. Pity, as it would have added some extra humour. Regardless, this DVD has more than enough song, dance and Beyoncé’s glamorous and seductive alter ego Sasha. She pulls out all the stops with her all female band and backup singers, the Mamas, and a troupe of skilled sexy dancers. Highlights include her remix medley of Destiny’s Child’s “Say my name” and “Jumpin’, Jumpin’”. She could have chosen an outfit that looked a lot less than underwear on this number though. Also a must see are performances of her booty shaking hits “Crazy in Love” and “Baby Boy” and surprise appearances by Destiny’s Child’s Kelly and Michelle on “Survivor” and Jay-Z on “Upgrade U”. Unfortunately B doesn’t always get it right. At the end of “Dangerously in Love” she switches to Jill Scott’s “He Loves Me”, which she should have left alone.

This DVD is perfect for somebody who doesn’t get sick of seeing Beyoncé shake her toosh, or maybe playing once in slow mo to learn the dance moves. But for the average person, after seeing Beyoncé’s performance live once, it’s less exciting the second time around.

As Beyoncé ascends from below the stage in cloud of smoke, the crowd screams. She flips her extensions back in synch with a spot light coming on and asks: “Are you ready to be entertained?” Hell yeah!
