Gabriella Cilmi - Lessons to be Learned

Gabriella Cilmi is the latest pretty young thing to release a 'soulful' pop rock album. "Lesson to be Learned" is the 16-year-old Australian's debut attempt, her strident voice a cross between Amy Winehouse and Anastacia.

The hippy "Sweet About Me" is receiving favourable rotation on local radio stations as the first single off the album, but the second release "Don't Want To Go To Bed Now" is more in tune with the rest of the album's general pop rock tone.

Gabriella Cilmi might've been a sensational breakout hit, but unfortunately Lessons to be Learned is really nothing special because it's all been done before by Duffy, Adele and Amy Winehouse. But maybe that's a good thing. We've all seen what celebrity-dom does to virtuous young ladies.

What does yet another pretty singer-songwriter have to offer? Well, she's Australian, so let's give her a chance.
