Girlfriends - The Soundtrack

Joan, Maya, Lynn and Toni epitomized what every young girl wanted to be when she grew up, and this album could be her soundtrack, the rhythm to her swagger as she made her way to her corner office. Smooth, sophisticated and sassy – Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Corinne Bailey Rae offer their soul with "Vibrate On", "Golden" and "Put Your Records On".

Big highlights are the powerful Chaka Khan/Mary J. Blige duet "Disrespectful" and the ballad "SoulMate" which was Toni's wedding song in the series and became a much sought-after track even though it was never officially produced.

Persia White (who plays Lynn) is a member of a dark alternative band called XEO3, and so her track "Choices" is musically out of place on this album, but fans of the series will know that her character was a little different from the others. The album ends with SA's Lira with "Feel Good" - an apt ending to a beautiful compilation.
