Heroes Wear Red - Surviving September

The vocal talents of Tim Kroon are the bedrock of that sound. His “yeah” is spot on, his “ooh” is sugar sweet with a twist of lemon. A voice made for the rock charts.

And the charts ought to love title track “Surviving September”, a catchy-chorus number for the angsty youth. But hold on, that describes almost every other track!

Sorry guys, but flashing indiscernible shades of U2 meets Bon Jovi for forty-four minutes is not what I call an album.
Make no mistake – Heroes Wear Red are by no means sloppy, and could actually become a force on the local scene if our appetite for Seether/Prime Circle-types hasn’t diminished. But applying their talent and attention to detail to some different musical ideas once in a while would make a huge improvement.

Solid, but not special.

In Surviving September, Heroes Wear Red have found their sound. And they’re sticking with it, not letting go once in a 12 track album.

Surviving September The thing that grabbed me most about this album was the authenticity... Aside from the musical precision, it really comes across as an honest real-life album, not just another convoluted combination of chords and words. I think that for me is what gives these guys the real 'international' sound - they come across as a real band. The title track is'nt my favourite, but i must admit i didnt quite find the same thread through the album that you describe above. I think the light and shade is quite obvious. 'Reach Out' is possibly my favourite off this record, or 'Be Universal'. But congratulations guys, you really blew me away with this record. I connected with your songs. All the best
