Natasha Marsh - Amour

She may be a bit of a stereotype in the looks department with her blonde hair and blue eyes you could stare into for days, but her soothing and rich operatic voice is anything but ordinary. Her debut release Amour is a classical music ensemble, that isn’t fussy or pompous.

The album features soul-wrenching arias like “Gymnopedie No1” (for you uncultured folk out there you’ll recognize it from some car commercial) as well as contemporary jazz classics like “The First Time I Saw Your Face”, both sung with impressive ease.

Most of the songs are in either Italian or French, except for the final track “Vocalize” which contains no words at all, just a bunch of oooh’s and ahhhh’s, which is surprisingly not at all irritating. Look if you’re not into classical music don’t suggest you rush out and buy this one, but if you’ve been secretly itching to jump onto the opera bandwagon then Natasha Marsh is a great place to start.

With the commercial music industry being full of sexy femmes with very little talent, Natasha Marsh is what you could call a rarity.
