Putumayo Kids Presents - African Dreamland

2008-05-30 08:10
African Dreamland follows on their success with their previous three Dreamland compilations, and with its combination of familiar and exotic songs from our own continent, this just has to be the winner.

The simple, clean productions allow the unique sounds of each song to come through. Some favourites: the lullaby-like Agalilala by Samite from Uganda, the gentle, rolling rhythm of Salaman by Toumani Diabaté with Ballaké Sissoko from Mali, and of course the rich vocal harmonies of Nomathemba by Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

- Adele Hamilton

Putumayo World Music’s compilations of music from around the world are familiar to lovers of international rhythms and sounds.
