Rod Stewart - Thanks for the Memory

What's happened to Rod? He used to be a rock 'n roll star of sorts. Now here he is doing syrupy songs like an old ... oh wait. He is pretty old now, isn't he?

Well here he is, showing his age, though still sounding as husky as ever. The duets feature other major stars like Diana Ross, Elton John, Chris Botti, George Benson and more doing classic songs like "Let's Fall in Love".

He seems to have kept some sense of irony - the cover photo of him shows him winking knowingly, Bryan Ferry style. But the music tells a different story.

This is not the swaggering Stewart of the old days. This music is for the fireside, best listened to with a nice warm blanket over your knees.

Since it's not really cold enough for that here in SA, we suggest that if this is your kind of thing, match it with a glass of semi-sweet rose and enjoy it.

The soft side of the heartbreaking bastard from the 80s. Misty eyed ladies will love it. Others, avoid.
