Ruben Studdard - The Return

Fortunately stylists have absolutely no clue how to operate mixing desks.

Studdard's smooth voice is as debonair as always and at times tracks on his third studio album can be compared to Teddy Pendegrass's "Turn Off The Lights", Luther Vandross's "Your Secret Love" or "Take You Out" and even Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing". Yes, The Return is ideal for all those often neglected slow jam lovers. It might make the perfect playlist for smooching, with songs about breaking up, making up and sexing up. However, focusing on the small R&B ballad audience might be the reason the Grammy-nominated artist couldn't transform months of hard work in the studio into retail figures with the album only reaching #8 in the US to dismal album sales.

The Return is the perfect album for bumping and grinding on the couch… if you're into that kind of thing of course.

After losing more than 31 kilograms and gaining a suave new appearance, Ruben Studdard looks more like Craig David than the Velvet Teddy Bear he was affectionately dubbed when he rose to fame in 2003 after winning the second season of the talent search competition American Idol.
