Tranquilita - Alfio Bonanno

He follows the usual classical pop crossover formulae with crowd-pleasing staples like "Ava Maria" and "Catari" both making the play list. The highlight has to be "Voce Pura" which is written by Alfio himself. It is a touching tribute to the late, great Pavarotti sung completely in Italian (translated in the liner notes) that shows off his multi-tonal vocal ability, depth of his songwriting technique and intense passion for his craft.

That doesn’t mean this album isn’t boring. It is. But if you don’t mind owning another CD that sounds just like Patrizio Buanne, and you never pass up a fresh batch of Italian eye candy or heroic opera arias then, Tranquilita is just what you need.

Obsessed with Andrea Bocelli and Il Divo? Desperately seeking the next Pavarotti? If the answer is 'yes', then Alfio Bonanno’s new album Tranquilita is worth a listen. Alfio fits the 'Italian Stallion' crooner stereotype with his roguish good looks and accomplished voice, but sadly the material here isn’t especially groundbreaking.

Tranquilita - Alfio Bonanno LOVE this album. Why shouldn't we have more of the likes of Bocelli or Il Divo ?! Finally some good music is coming through.
