Vanessa Carlton - Heroes & Thieves

Vanessa Carlton once again relies on the producing talents of ex-boyfriend and Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins, while also entering the studio with legendary rock producer/songwriter Linda Perry to record 11 personal tracks on defeating the big bad wolf after straying from the beaten path of life.

Hardly depressing, Heroes and Thieves's honest lyrics and Carlton's signature piano chord progressions make for relatable sing-a-longs that have more depth than her vocal range.

As a side note, it'll be interesting to see the path Carlton's career will take now that she's ditched A&M Records and signed to The Ink Records, a predominantly hip hop and R&B label owned by Irv Gotti and Ja Rule.
