Remember sexy boy band Silk’s “Freak Me” and not so sexy anymore Tevin Campbell’s ”Back To the World”? Okay, they’re one hit R&B wonders. But Brandy’s ”Never Say Never” is still an awesome jam. Anita Baker’s “Lead Me Into Love” is a welcome reminder of why we grade her amongst the greatest romantic R&B singers of our time.

There’s a good mix of old and new tracks that still make us sing along today and goes to show that there really would be no new school without the old school. More recent releases such as Tamia’s soulful hit single “Officially Missing You” and Debelah Morgan’s “Dance With Me” sit snugly alongside Karyn ‘Superwoman’ White’s “Hunger (for ya love)”. Funky old favourites like The Brand New Heavies make an appearance with their “Good Time” number. And the legendary Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody (does me better)” still sounds good after all these years. In the same breathe you’ll find Al B. Sure’s ”Ooh This Love Is So” very perturbing.
