About Red Bull Beat Battle 2012

2012-04-25 15:05
8 dance crews, 1 winner, plenty of bragging rights.

Red Bull Beat Battle is back for a another epic dance-off that will pit SA's top dance crews from around the country against each other.

Eight crews will be chosen after the qualifying rounds, but only one of them will be named Red Bull Beat Battle champ.

Scouts have been travelling to various cities around the country to find the crews.
They are looking for crews representing all forms of street dance  – Pantsula, Krump, S'bhujwa, Hip Hop and everything in between.

Crews compete on the same stage regardless of dance style – local and international inspired dancers will take each other on in regional qualifiers to prove they have what it takes.

Cultivated on the streets

The one thing that all the styles have is common is that they are born and cultivated on the streets.

We will be providing constant updates on the progress of the Red Bull Beat Battle.

Once the top eight groups are chosen they will get the chance to work with a renowned choreographer to brush up on their moves and get some tips on their performance.

The crews will be pulling double duty on the final night. They have to impress the judges as well as the crowd because the audience will also be voting for their favourite.

So having a tight routine and being technically brilliant is just part of the competition – engaging the crowd and winning them over is the other.
