1. She was born Bulelwa Mkutukana in the Pumlani Village outside East London, in the Eastern Cape.

2. Her stage name Zahara means "budding Flower" in Arabic.

3. She has two sisters Nomonde and Bandelwa Mkutukana who recently complained that she was not being treated fairly by her record label, TS Records.

4. She was discovered performing at a gig in East London by TS Records co-owner TK Nciza.

5. She now stays with TK and his wife, musician Nhlanhla Nciza, in Johannesburg.

6. She is 24 years old.

7. Her debut album Loliwe has reportedly sold close to 400 000 copies.

8. Her appearance fee is reportedly R75 000 per performance.

9. She is a big fan of social media and is always tweeting up a storm. She has 56 608 followers at the moment.

10. She won eight awards at the recent SAMAs including the Album of the Year, Best Selling Album and Best Smooth Urban Music Album.
