Over the past 3 weeks there was a buzz in the South African community in Texas and the buzz was not from an overdriven amplifier…

Word was spreading that Theuns Jordaan might be coming to Texas for a concert, then it changed to Theuns Jordaan is coming to Texas.  Using mostly social media the word spread quickly and sure enough this past Saturday evening, the 27th July, Theuns Jordaan, accompanied by Anton L’Amour played a world class concert in Montgomery Texas. The show was organised by the Afrikaanse Kerk Houston.

The 300+ guests, who travelled from as far as Denver Colorado, were treated to a slow personal start with Theuns on acoustic guitar interacting with the crowd between songs, and as Theuns described the format, "it will be like an old Lister water pump on the farm, slow to warm up, but once it warms up it goes", and that is exactly how it went.

Anton L’Amour joined Theuns mid way through the first set which lasted for about an hour. After a “meet and greet” break the duo where back and this time it was kicking. Everyone was on their feet for the second hour. Theuns ended with Soos Bloed and the entire room was dancing!

The night played out a great success with everyone getting to meet Theuns and Anton and having their pictures taken and autographs signed.

While this might be a weekly occurrence in South Africa, it is a huge treat for South Africans living abroad. Theuns commented that he would love to return next year and he was emotionally drawn to how hungry folks are here for South African music.

Due to the huge success everybody felt that Theuns Jordaan may have planted the seed for South African performers to come to Texas.
