Weez up
A first for Mzansi’s hip-hop: For those that have never heard of Weez, he’s a m’rapper and homeboy from Pretoria that will be representing Mzansi in the US very soon. Notorious US hip-hop group Cypress Hill from the US has invited local rapper Weez to record a collaboration with them in their studios in Long Beach, California. This is a result of a MySpace.com invitation sent by the band’s front man B-Real, inviting new talent to submit fresh material for their collaboration album, The Harvest. Weez submitted his song “Verbal massacre”, which was voted number one for two successive weeks on local radio station 5fm’s hi5@5 charts. The group was impressed and Weez got the call a week later. He is one of 20 featured artists on the album. Weez leaves on 27 May for L.A and will stay with the group. He also stands a chance to bag a record deal with B-Real’s label Latin Thug Records. Go Weezy! Do Mzansi proud.

Khanyi does it again
Self-confessed tabloid junkie Khanyi Mbau has been playing hide and seek where it’s not even necessary, but why are we surprised? After all, this is part of Mbau’s schemes to garner more publicity. Arthur Mafokate’s 999 music label is losing money fast thanks to the 23–year-old Mbau. The company lost nearly R100 000 after the controversial actress-turned-singer failed to show up for a video shoot twice this week. She bunked the first filming, which was scheduled for Tuesday in NewTown. Word is that Mbau, who is married to 53-year-old tycoon Mandla Mthembu, begged Mafokate to postpone the shoot to Thursday. This was after the company had spent money booking a production company, make-up artists, a wardrobe, camera crew, producers, two parking lots, transport, catering and media invitations. Mafokate rescheduled the shoot but Mbau stood him up again. Not so long ago, Arthur was elated to have Mabu join his stable but now he must regret the day he signed her on. Apparently, the “king of Kwaito” was furious. Since then the two have not spoken. Mafokate said: “It hurts us as a company and up to today the only excuse we got from Khanyi was that it had been due to ‘unforeseen circumstances”. He said he was angry and saddened by her behavior. “If she did not want to work with us she should have told us so we could cancel. But she led us on and we ran into such huge losses,” he said. Well Arthur, you should have known better.

Wedding Bells for Justin
Justin Timberlake is planning to propose to Jessica Biel, reports Bang Showbiz. The singer is going to pop the question to the actress, who sparked rumors she is pregnant after she recently stopped drinking. 27-year-old Justin is thinking about marriage and kids and for the first time in his life he is feeling quite settled. JT’s very happy with Biel and has definitely decided to pop the question after spending some time apart recently when he was working with Madonna. That made him certain Jessica was “the one” he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. It’s also been revealed that the ‘SexyBack’ singer is planning to fly friends and family to the exclusive 1,400-acre privately-owned island of Mustique in the West Indies for the wedding, to prevent paparazzi from photographing the ceremony.

Moving on and up
Jennifer Aniston has clearly moved on, and with someone better it seems. The actress has told friends she’s in love with John Mayer and even more, that she thinks he’s a better lover than Brad Pitt, reports Bang Showbiz. The former ‘Friends’ actress began dating the rock singer last month and has confessed to close friends that she thinks he’s “The One”. John has also admitted he is smitten with Jennifer and that he thinks she’s gorgeous and loves her sense of humor. The lovebirds were recently on a trip in New York and are now planning a holiday in Mexico together. It is about time girlfriend. We hope this one lasts.

No more church for B
Beyonce Knowles is reportedly too famous to go to church according to Bang Showbiz. Fans are always mobbing the former Destiny’s Child singer when she attends religious services. So she’s decided not to attend services anymore. "I can't really go to church anymore, which is a shame. People have come up to me in church during the sermon and, of course, people watch everything I do. They come up and take pictures on their mobile phones too. They are very nice, but I think God understands if I miss Sunday service!” she said. Beyonce also revealed she will never officially confirm that she has married rapper Jay-Z. "I don't deny it. I just don't talk about it. We have never talked about us and it has protected our relationship. Several actresses that have had successful relationships don't talk about them, so neither do I. I just want to protect my private life”, she added.
