Somizi found guilty
Renowned choreographer and controversial social butterfly Somizi Mhlongo was found guilty in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Sunday World reports that Magistrate Hombakazi Thwele found him guilty of indecently assaulting Celani Njapha some time last year and gave him a R6000 fine or four months in prison. Thwele questioned Mhlongo’s version of the incident. She said if 35 year old Mhlongo was tired that night, as he stated during his testimony, why did he take Njapha to his place instead of dropping him off at a spot where he could catch a taxi? And, if they were just dropping off keys like he said, why did he ask Njapha to go inside the house with him? “How can a stranger just make himself at home by playing a a porn movie, let alone start masturbating?” In trying to ease his sentence Mhlongo’s lawyer Nyiko Khupane argued that Mhlongo is a public figure that’s contributed greatly to society and has never offended before. Mhlongo, who always wore ‘F**kin’ Criminal’ gear to court, was confident he was going to win the case. He says that the judgment came as a shock to him and cites it as “personal and homophobic”. “How can they find me guilty? It’s Celane’s’ word against mine,” he said. “I won’t rest until my name is clear”. Eish, good luck Somizi.

Star-truck Celine
Celine Dion had cocktails with her idol Sarah Jessica Parker reports Bang Showbiz. When the singer discovered the Sex and the City actress was staying in a hotel room next to hers on a recent trip to Paris, she immediately went to visit her. Celine invited Sarah back to her suite where the girls watched several classic episodes of the hit US TV show on which the new movie is based, while drinking cocktails. Apparently, Sarah later asked hotel managers for a room transfer to escape her obsessive fan. Celine also revealed that she and Sarah’s character Carrie Bradshaw have a common passion for shoes. “I own between two and three thousand pairs of shoes”, she boasted. Sounds like Celine and Khanyi Mbau should hook up for drinks too. Take The Sex and the city quiz and check our Celine Dion gallery out

Chicco’s woes
Legendary musician and the late Mabrr’s infamous producer, Sello “Chicco” Twala has kicked his son Longwe Twala out of his house in Bassonia, Jozi, for being an alleged drug junkie. Sunday World reports that Longwe is now living with his grandmother. Apparently, Longwe started taking drugs when he was a student at National School of Arts in Braamfontein, near drug-ridden Hillbrow. Longwe has been to rehab more than three times but has relapsed each time. “I spent a lot of money on this boy by taking him to different rehab centres but he kept on going back to drugs,” says Chicco. On the flip side, Longwe claims he’s been rehabilitated. “Yes, I did drugs because I had bad friends. But I’m a new person all together now and focusing on growing as a musician and having a bright future”, said Longwe. Shame Chicco, it just never ends with you and always being in the mix where drugs are concerned.

Alanis ready for a family
Alanis Morissete wants to adopt. The 34-year-old singer says she wants to have a family before she is 40 and admits she would consider adoption reports Bang Showbiz. She said: “I would definitely consider adoption, not today, but at some point in the future." Alanis says she would ideally like to be married and have a family before she’s 40 even though she doesn’t believe in the concept of marriage in the conventional sense. The singer also revealed she’s dating a lawyer – but refuses to disclose his name. “My boyfriend is a lawyer. I’ve done the high-profile relationship thing and I’m a little shy of that now. “I don’t want to say who he is yet just for his sake” she said. Alanis split with fiancé Ryan Reynolds last February after two-and-a-half years together.

Usher getting divorced?
Usher has reportedly filed for separation from his wife Tameka Raymond according to Bang Showbiz. The singer has been married to Tameka for just nine months and has filed official papers three weeks ago, but is unsure whether to make a public announcement or let the news “leak” out. Those close to Raymond have confirmed that Usher has indeed filed for separation from his wife. However, there’s also an allegation that the separation could just be a publicity stunt for Usher’s new album Here I Stand to be released soon. Meanwhile, Usher recently revealed he wrote a song ‘Best Thing’ with Jay-Z about the joys of being a newlywed. “Of course, with the talk of both of us now being newlyweds, there is a question as to why, and is it real? Well, if you hear that song, you’ll understand what Jay-Z meant when he says, “Seeds becomes plants/ Boys become men/ You’ve got to grow up, not down”. Usher and Tameka have a five-month-old son, Usher Raymond V. So it’s most likely that this is a publicity stunt after all. Take our Usher quiz

Gospel muso dies
A close family friend of gospel singer Vuyo Mokoena, Faith Mngomezulu, tried in vain to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before Mokoena took his last breath on earth, according to Sunday World. The award-winning muso died of a brain tumor caused by lymphoma leukemia, at his home in Sonneveld last week on Friday morning. Mngomezulu says she spent most of her time at Mokoena’s bedside, with his wife, in the days before he passed on. Vuyo Mokeona’s memorial service was held in Pimville Soweto on 28 May at the Grace Bible Church. He will be buried on Friday 30 May at Nigel Cemetery in Gauteng. May his soul rest in peace.
