Please don’t confuse these guys with that failed kwaito group Black Jacks, there’s a huge difference. For starters these Blk Jks actually play their own instruments and rock seriously hard. The other group? Well the only good thing about them was Kabelo.

Okay, back to Blk Jks…
Their myspace page describes them as a psychedelic/rock/dub band. Not that this description does them justice. When most SA rock bands are content to be clones of their imported influences, Blk Jks are on a mission to desegregate Mzansi music with their fresh and funky new Afro-rock flavours.

The group’s lead guitarist and vocalist Linda Buthelezi, says their music is an amalgamation of each of the band member’s own life experiences with the melting pot of music around them.

With a single set to be released Europe, North America and Far East, it’s obvious that these Jozi guys are ready to take over the world.

Okay, so maybe they don’t lie down, but these Jozi rockers definitely get down. Meet rising Afro-rock crew the Blk Jks.
