HHP and Amerie?
No! Hip Hop Pantsula is not leaving his baby mamma for the leggy international R&B sensation Amerie. Word is that HHP has been chosen to shoot a new video for his new track “Music N Lights” from his latest album Acceptance Speech with internationally acclaimed director Nick Quested. HHP was nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act and even though he didn’t walk away with an award, he made an impression. Quested has worked with A-list stars such as Common, Sting, P. Diddy, Nas and Brandy. Amerie is best known for chart toppers such as “1 Thing” and was nominated for a Grammy Award. She’ll have a cameo role in HHP’s video which premiers across Africa on MTV on December 7.

Amy’s mom speaks out
Imagine being elated to learn that your son-in-law is finally in prison? Well, Janis Winehouse is. Janis blames Blake Fielder-Civil for exposing her daughter to a drug-fuelled lifestyle. She revealed that despite Amy's devastation at his arrest, she believes it may be the best thing for her. Janis says she was worried when they were together and is relieved that he’s behind bars. Blake is currently on remand in London's Pentonville Prison for “perverting the course of justice”. Amy has been distressed since his arrest, breaking down on stage during a concert and turning on her fans when they booed her crazy behaviour. She is planning to stand by him, whatever the outcome of the case. Eish, this girl!

Beyonce goes country
This (singing budgie) sure knows how to tata’ ma chance. She plans to surprise or shock her hardcore fans with a country and western-inspired album. Miss Knowles has apparently enlisted the help of award winning songwriter Amanda Ghost who co-wrote James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful”. All this was inspired by her performance at the American Music Awards last weekend where she sang a country version of her hit song “Irreplaceable”. Talk about having your fingers in every pie! Beyonce clearly wants to do do it all, and it seems she can.

Goodbye Mama
Kanye West was very emotional and tearful when he bid his mother farewell. Donda West passed away on November 10 after cosmetic surgery complications. Kanye broke down as he was giving a short speech about his mother, during her funeral. The hip hop star struggled to speak but told the congregation that his mother would have wanted him “to get up there” and say a few words. Kanye went all out for his mother with a champagne-coloured coffin that arrived at the church in a white hearse. Kanye said he wanted his mother to “rest in peace, but rest in paradise.” Jay-Z and his girlfriend Beyoncé Knowles, Pharrell Williams and Erykah Badu were there to pay their final respects. Singer Anita Barker gave a moving performance of ‘Summertime’, while John Legend accompanied her on the piano. We hope Kanye will get through this and keep on giving us hot tunes. (Read our review)

Timbaland family
Timbaland has just become a father. The hip-hop producer extraordinaire’s publicist Monique Idlett recently gave birth to a baby girl and the excited couple have announced their engagement. Apparently Timbaland had been secretly dating Idlett for two years. The rap mogul proposed last month during the baby shower and the pair are reportedly set to tie the knot sometime next year. Well daddy Timbaland can now start producing mean beats for his little girl too.

No more Christmas
Madonna has “cancelled Christmas”. Not only is she not giving her children any presents, she refuses to let seven-year-old son Rocco, two-year-old adopted son David, and 11-year-old daughter Lourdes celebrate the Christian holiday at all. Why? Well, as any Madonna fan knows, the pop icon is a devoted follower of Kabbalah, a spiritual branch of Judaism. “We cancelled Christmas two years ago in our household”, said Madonna recently. Since then there have been no presents and she claims that they have been enjoying themselves more. Ag shame. The ex-Material Girl is loaded enough to make the kids happy without Christmas presents anyway.

Regina and friends in town
R&B, Soul and Jazz icons Regina Belle, Glenn Jones and Phil Perry are set to give Mzansi and Swaziland fans three spectacular performances. The trio will start their African tour in Cape Town at the Grandwest Arena on November 28. On November 30, they will be at the Expo Centre in Jozi and their final performance will be in Swaziland at the Mavuso Centre in Manzini on the 1st December, World Aids Day. If you want to see the show but are running low on some moola we, together with Ekasi Promotions are giving you a chance to win double tickets. (Enter the competition)

On a bizarre and shocking note
And now for a story so horrible it’s almost not gossip. Well it wouldn’t be, if it didn’t concern DJ Cleo. We’re not saying it’s true – in fact we’re finding it hard to believe ourselves. According to the Sunday World, The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has claimed that DJ Cleo's dog, a Boerboel bitch called Tiger, was sexually molested by someone. The dog was laid to rest after it was handed over to the SPCA with its intestines hanging out. DJ Cleo's former gardener, a Zimbabwean man named Petros was blamed for this shocking incident. Petros who’s an illegal immigrant, was livid when he heard DJ Cleo blamed him for raping his dog and quit his job immediately. But DJ Cleo claims he had in fact fired Petros after he admitted he molested the dog. “I asked my gardener about the matter but he denied it. But one day when he was drunk he admitted that he did it and I fired him” Cleo said. DJ Cleo insisted he loves dogs and that he owns four at the moment. Yoh! 2007 just hasn’t been Cleo’s year - too much drama.
